Personal Studies into the Mind

Mission Statement and Direction for the Blog

Background

The most important endeavor to pursue is the discovery of the self. Why do we be thinking? I don't know bro, I barely do it myself. Thinking is hard and I am a dumbass. That being said, I am trying my best to piece together what is happening. Starting in my senior year of high school, I was exposed to a book written by Morton Hunt titled, "The Story of Psychology." For the first time in my life I became genuinely interested in learning. This led me to pursue psychology in college, and now both my bachelor's and master's are in psychology. My personal interests in life revolve around neuroscience. At this point in my life, the last thing I want to do is more school but given my interests this will most likely, unfortunately, be inevitable.

Direction for the Blog

I want this blog to serve as a collection of thoughts for subjects of the mind along with new discoveries and developments with my personal outlook over the philosophies of the mind. What do I mean when referring to, "the mind?" For the purposes of this blog, I do not intend its use as a metaphysical descriptor for an adjacent spirit for the body. I am a materialist, and thus believe all scientific phenomenon can be explained by physical means. Rather, "the mind" serves as a catch all term for the collective experience of both the physical body and the conscious experience. the mind, then, is a descriptor for both entities labeled by the metaphor, "the ghost in the machine."

Mission Statement

TO accumulate knowledge and gain insight into the mind.
